Portbane's History.
Portbane meaning port of the women has its own small harbour where the nuns living on Queen Sybilla’s island would come ashore to the market once a year, to sell their wears and where the ferry boat would deliver people between the North and South shores as they frequented the Kingharry ale house on the North shore.
